Wanna sit here?
The Valvolines have been going through what I believe in agricultural circles is called a fallow period… But, the little green shoots of rebirth are starting to poke above ground. Yes, I know it’s the wrong season for that kind of thing – in the northern hemisphere anyway, but you get the picture.
Anyway, we have been very lucky to have had the services of Liam The Kid on drums as we older people get our arthritic bones back into blues mode, but The Kid has a whole bunch of other stuff on his diary – and considering his abilities I’m not surprised – so in short: THE VALVOLINES NEED A DRUMMER!
What we can offer is some blues-rock music-making with three friendly gentlemen, only one of whom is anything other than modest, easy-going and patient. Ha ha… Oh, and we can also offer the regular fortnightly thrill of finding out first what new pedal or guitar-amp-speaker-monitor arrangement Phil Valvoline is favouring this fortnight.
What you can offer is keeping us in time and having fun hitting things. Oh, and sharing our dream that one day, some way, we’ll be a little better than this…

The Valvolines are delighted to be playing this year’s Fuse Festival in Beacon Park, Lichfield.
For more details of the festival click on the logo.
Hope to see you there.
It might not be permanent, but then that’s true of life, I guess, but for the foreseeable future the Valvolines are on hold.
So, welcome The Valves, a pared-down, more acoustic (perhaps) duo who rework some old favourites and add some new tunes for their debut live gig at Rocklands School in Lichfield on Saturday 12 November. They’ll be more details soon, but I’m assuming it starts about 8pm.
It’s a fund raiser for the school and The Grateful Dads and another band will be the big acts. Would be good to see you there…

Sadly we have had to cancel the gig at the The Crown in Heather on Saturday 15 October.
Valvolines activity will be on hold for the next few months, after which time we hope to announce some new developments… could be new members, could be a new direction.
We don’t know yet.
We’ll tell you when we do.

It’s big, it’s red and it’s Phil Valvoline’s
The Mystery looking cheerful - ie before he locked his keys in the boot of his car.
Following a storming second gig at The Crown in Heather, Leics, in late January, The Valvolines are booked to play there again.
The dates are:
Saturday 18 June 2011
Saturday 15 October 2011
Maybe at these gigs The Mystery won’t lock his keys in the boot of his car. My, my! It was freezing out there in the early hours…
We’ll be adding more dates at other venues in the coming weeks, so if you go away, don’t go too far!
The Valvolines are back at The Crown in Heather, Leicestershire, on Saturday 29 January. Our last gig there was a great success. Please join us for this one.
Here is all the action, all the colour, all the movement, with fulsome thanks to Mick, who manned the sound desk and the camera (who says a man can’t multi-task!)
